In addition to organised tours of the museum, a walking tour of Knock Shrine grounds taking in all places of historical interest is highly recommended. This is a complementary service at the Shrine which takes approx. 45 minutes.
Pilgrimage Programme for schools
This pilgrimage programme is specially designed for students who have chosen Knock Shrine as the topic for their Junior Certificate Religious Education Journal. The programme aims to give students a first-hand experience of what it is to be a pilgrim. It involves a walking tour of Knock Shrine grounds focusing on all the elements of a traditional pilgrimage at the Shrine. Followed by a guided tour of Knock Museum focusing on the history of pilgrimage at Knock Shrine and the stories and narratives that are part of this tradition. Students can combine these tours with a variety of other pilgrimage options available at Knock Shrine.
Knock Shrine is also a popular attraction for school tour outings. The museum offers guided tours tailored to suit individual groups and provides customised worksheets to enhance the tour.
